Director-Coach Kristin Wood
In 2009, Coach Wood was named FCIAC Coach of the Year and lead her team to the FCIAC and STATE Championship games. Although, they were runners-up in both games, the team ended the season with a 18-5 record. Her three senior captains, Meg Boland, Veronica Lizzio, and Jenny Simpson were recognized at the All-American level. Each player will be representing New Canaan at the collegiate level next year at Tuffs, Cornell, and University of New Hampshire.
In the 2008 season she was named the Division I Connecticut Coach of the Year as she led the Lady Rams to an impressive 16-5 record, and a birth in the FCIAC finals. In regular season competition, New Canaan upset a strong Wilton team in overtime 14-13, and went on to upend perennial powerhouse Darien in the FCIAC Semi Finals 15-14. This marked the first time in 10 years New Canaan was victorious against either team.
Coach Wood has been affiliated with women’s lacrosse, both as a player and coach, at every level for the past decade. As a player at Penn State, she was a four year letter winner and captain of the team during her senior year, ultimately being named to the Academic All-Big Ten team as a midfielder.
Following her collegiate playing days, she was asked to stay on at Penn State for an additional year as the Undergraduate Assistant Coach, ultimately helping to lead the Nittany Lions to an 18th place ranking in the country. She has coached at the Penn State Elite Camp for the past nine years, as well as owning and operating CT LAX which she founded in 2005. Coach Wood and CT LAX are excited to be organizing camps for the 2nd year in New Canaan, and look forward to mentoring and instructing the next generation of Connecticut lacrosse.
Coach Wood currently teaches Health and Physical Education at New Canaan High School, and is in her 5th year with the school system.
